As the next part of your semester-long journey with Compass, you will secure a relationship by meeting 1:1 with your mentors. These meetings will be a casual opportunity to speak with your mentor about your fears, 兴奋, 当你过渡到BC时的目标, 和更多的. Your mentors will schedule this meeting with you based on your availability. 另外, you will also engage in random 1:1s with members of your small group to continue building on relationships you form in your weekly group meetings!

You will be involved in weekly group meetings facilitated by two upperclass co-mentors throughout the Fall semester starting in September. These serve as an opportunity to get to know the rest of your group and to learn and grow from one another as you share with one another.

Compass participants are required to attend Compass-wide programs as a way to meet students in other groups and to help build community within the Compass program . Groups and mentees are also encouraged to take advantage of events held by the wider AHANA+ community including events held by the BAIC, 校园演讲, and events held by BC's own culture organizations-many of which our mentors are members and leaders of!
Beginning your journey at 电子游戏软件 is both exciting and challenging. Many of you are leaving home for the first time and are thrust into a new environment surrounded by students from across the country and the world. There are new expectations, new routines, new friendships, and so much more.
The 指南针指导计划 serves our AHANA+ first-year community by providing intentional mentorship from upperclass leaders and fostering engagement throughout the AHANA+ community. 通过指南针, AHANA+ first-year students (referred to in the program as Mentees) get a chance to learn from their mentors and their group members, 参加指南针范围内的撤退, 每周小组会议, 和其他罗盘活动.

什么是指南针导师?
Compass consists of 20 mentors who help lead our 10 Compass mentoring groups throughout the Fall semester. They help serve as conversation partners and friends to a group of first-year AHANA+ students. Each leader is paired with a co-mentor to allow for collaboration and diversity of perspective and experience to help facilitate conversations for Compass Mentees. Each co-mentor pair will meet weekly with their Compass group to have conversations around the AHANA+ student experience at BC.

- 导师 must be rising juniors or seniors—junior mentors must not be studying abroad in the Fall semester.
- 导师 must be interested in mentoring first-year students and be willing to share their own transition experiences and AHANA+ identity.
- You do not need to have participated in Compass as a first-year to become a mentor.

Compass 实习生 are a group of 4 sophomore students that assist with programming and planning for Compass wide events and logistics. 实习生 work directly with 导师 and 呸!咄! staff in designing events and helping to improve the Compass experience for current first-year students.

- 实习生 must be second semester first-year students at their time of application for the role, 发生在他们大二的时候.

Incoming first-year AHANA+ students (people of African, 拉美裔, 亚洲, 印第安人, 和混血血统). The program consists of around 100 students, 20 upperclass mentors, and 4 sophomore interns.
Compass is held during the Fall semester and serves as an intentional mentoring community in students' first semester at BC.
It depends on your co-mentors and which group you are in. Each group meets weekly at a different time and location and groups will be made in accordance to group members' schedules.
The incoming class of first year students are eligible to register for Compass beginning in June prior to the start of their Fall semester and each incoming student will receive an email notifying them that registration has opened.
There is no cost to participate in the Compass mentoring program!
